Busy, busy....

Hi all. Here are pictures from earlier today. Just as it gets more difficult to get Adeline to be still for a picture, it becomes increasingly difficult to get a picture WITHOUT the pacifier. We're going to have to package that thing up and ship it to Siberia. You'll notice the mess of toys in the background, for those of you with kids, I'm sure you can relate, for those of you without them or expecting them....oh, you just wait. I fight a battle with the house daily, and the house usually wins : )

We have finally won the battle with the cold though. That means a full night's sleep, and a houseful of happier people. I'm thnking of taking Adeline back to the Mother's Day Out program we were going to at the end of last year, so that will likely mean exposure to new and fun germs. But I feel it's important too for her to have interaction with other children....David's dad says to think of it as an investment in her immune system. It certainly qualifies as an investment in the Memphis Children's Clinic!

To those of you who have been so sweet to ask how I'm feeling, the answer is good. What little nausea I've had this time is almost gone, and the bigger problem, the exhaustion, is getting better too. Althought the Dr.'s scales say I've weighed the same since the beginning of December, the clothes are starting to get tight. I need to take a couple of those side profile pics, and in a hurry too! I'm really looking forward to week 20 or so, when we get to find out if Adeline is getting a brother or sister. And I'm equally dreading week 24 or so, which means time for the glucose test....some of you may remember I failed this test with Adeline (in addition to it making me sick, sick all day). So, until then, (hopefully) news will be a little boring!

Oh, one more thing! I'm so excited to welcome the Truloves to the wonderful world of blogging! They have the cutest girls, and I can't wait to see all the pictures! Keesha, you'll have to let me know whether or not it's okay to add your link to my list. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Before and after the haircut.

I finally took Adeline yesterday and got the much, much needed haircut. I posted some pictures from Sunday morning before church. She looks so pitiful with the sour face and that hair in her eyes. (But observe the cute dress from Nana). The striped-bunny-shirt picture is from today, post haircut, and noticeably better mood. I thought I would go ahead and put these up while she's napping. She had a fun day because we went to eat lunch with David, which means she got to run wild all over his office and get attention from all the ladies that work there!

Well, not much else to report, and I had better finish this up during the 5 minutes I have left before she wakes up. Oh, there is one thing I've been meaning to take up with my dear readers.....I think some of YOU need blogs too! I know most all of you, and you're incredibly interesting folks, and it's not hard to set up! If I can do it anyone can. And you can even make it private too (meaning you add the email addresses of people you want to be able to see it). I've thought about making this one "private" but I've had it long enough that I have no idea what friends of friends of friends keep up with us this way, and I don't want to leave anyone out. But, c'mon folks! Create a blog for me! I need more distractions! Okay, that's all for today! Hope everyone's doing great!

For Mary Carole.....

I am behind with the posts, I do admit. I think Adeline kind of has a Mary Carole thing going on in the pics below, don't you think? Both of you look cute in your glasses : )

These are actually my Mom's new reading glasses. Adeline was fascinated with my Mom in them, so we thought we would let her try them on. Then, of course, we had to go to the mirror for her to have a look. (Note ugly pink bathroom tiles in the background...someday, someday we will be able to leave the ugly pink bathroom tile behind, keep the faith). My Mom and Aunt Haz came to see us today, and it's always so great when we get to spend time with them. Adeline has ANOTHER cold, so we couldn't get out much, but we still had fun. Sidenote: do you other mommys out there give vitamins? Pediatrician said it was not necessary, but I think Adeline would benefit from them. Leave a comment and let me know.

I don't know if I've mentioned that we've been going to a new church lately. Since about September, I guess. We really like it, lots more young couples and kids Adeline's age. Last night we had dinner with our Sunday school class at Mark & Brooke Howell's (they teach our class, and, additionally, David's sister Andrea is married to Brooke's brother Frank). We had so much fun and met even more great couples. Kiddies were more than welcome, but since Adeline has the cold we thought it best not to infect the other kids. Anyway, I say all this to ask for your prayers as David and I consider joining this church. More on this later.

Feel like I should give a pregnancy update also. If I had been blogging the first time, I'm sure I would have given a much more interesting running commentary, but since I've kind of been-there-done-that, I won't be nearly as much fun. (And, also Mary Carole, I KNEW you would be the one to want belly pics, and I just don't think I can do it. BUT I do promise pics of moi periodically so you can gauge just how GI-normous I'm getting.)

WE'RE HAVING ANOTHER BABY!

We're so excited! For those of you I haven't already gotten in touch with, I thought I would do a post. The due date they gave us was Aug. 13th. (Our anniversary is the 14th, so we'll probably be eating the Stork Meal at the hospital as our "special dinner".) I have to say, even though a healthy baby and healthy pregnancy are what's most important, we would like a boy this time! I have a feeling this is a boy, but I had that same feeling last time : ) I said the next time we had a baby, I didn't want to find out the sex before he/she was born. I still kind of feel that way, it would be nice to be surprised, but it's still a surprise when you find out at five months, right? Um, yeah, we'll never be able to wait.
Note: The jury's still out on whether I will take pictures of my "growing belly" and post them (as I have seen done on other blogs). For now I'm thinking NO. Not a good idea.

Miss Adeline continues to grow like a weed, and it seems she learns some new word or trick everyday. I'm suffering from another picture shortage. All I seem to have are bath pics, and those get kind of boring. I will try to do better this week. We do have something fun to look forward to this weekend. Harper's First Birthday party! We can't wait! There will certainly be lots of Kodak moments!

In other news, I got to do something really fun this weekend, I got to catch up with some of the girls from high school! (Big thanks to Keesha and Trina for getting us together.) We always have so much fun - it makes me look forward to our 10-year reunion...which isn't that far away! I have a cute picture of Brandie's precious little boy, Coy, but I'm not sure if she would be cool with me posting it on the world wide web, so you guys will have to miss out! Take my word for it, he is a super-cutie!

Happy New Year to everyone!

)

Time for new pictures! This is what I have to offer right now. Christmas really "pictured" me out, so I haven't had the camera out as often lately. I will try to do better. Again though, I have to say, its really hard to capture a moving target! Adeline's hair has become a serious issue, we're just not quite sure what to do with it. For those of you who know David well, her hair is EXACTLY like his. Problem is, we can't keep cutting bangs, because eventually she will have bangs that go all the way back on her head! (My hairdresser friends informed me of this.) Those of you who knew me in high school probably know I have strong feelings about bangs! (Just say NO to them!) But I have to agree with Mom, they do look good on little girls. Anyway, getting to the problem, Adeline won't wear bows or anything that resemble them. So, I've either got to train her to like them or keep cutting all her hair on top. I'll keep you posted. : )

Oh, a big CONGRATULATIONS to our law school friend, Angie Swilley (and her sweet husband, Scott), who welcomed little Luke into the world this week! I just saw some pics earlier, and I have to say, he looks a bit like his Dad! It's okay Angie, I feel your pain on that one! Adeline couldn't look more like David if HE had given birth to her!

Ok, I think I have posted all the noteworthy Christmas pictures, and it only took four hundred years. Curses to dial-up! Better than nothing though! I don't have any pictures from the two weeks or so before Christmas when Adeline had the black eye (probably better that I don't). Black eye, you ask? Oh yes, in my infinite wisdom, I hung the stockings on the mantle without checking to see if Adeline was tall enough to pull them off. Well, you can guess what happened next. She pulled stocking AND 10 lb. stocking holder off. Scared me silly. I just knew it had knocked her out. Thankfully, it only grazed her eye, and she had a terrible looking bruise on her brow bone for days and days. Some days it looked like she was wearing purple shadow, then the next day, yellow. I felt so incredibly bad! That thing could have killed her! God certainly watches over us, even when we aren't watching ourselves.

You may be wondering exactly where the pictures-in-the-dark were taken. Those are from the Enchanted Forest visit. They didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, and they certainly didn't capture her absolute entertainment with the displays, but I think I will forever remember that!

Time to post Christmas pictures!

I have been lazy again lately....I'm sorry! But I do have new pictures from the weekend to post. We had a lot of fun, but we are also very tired. We managed to squeeze in four or five "Christmases" and lots of visits since last Friday. And, I can't forget, a trip to the Enchanted Forest too. Adeline REALLY enjoyed that. I didn't think she would be that interested, but, boy was I wrong! She ohhed and ahhed all the way through! I will post some pictures now and will do others later.

I can post pictures again!

Ok, so Blogger has switched to this new "beta" version. I have no idea what that means, and don't particularly care. BUT, I do care about whether or not I can post pictures (that is, after all, my primary goal here). Lately, as you've probably noticed, I have not been able to post pics, but THANK GOODNESS my picture posting ability is back! So I can now stop cursing Blogger Beta.

I'll try to upload several new pictures today to make up for the recent lack.

Adeline still trudges on despite the head/chest cold that has plagued her for what seems like forever now. I was really careful and kept her in all week, and she's at least looking like she feels better, which really does me good. I do have to rant about our pediatrician(s) though. Our supposed pediatrician is a great doctor, and we really like him. The problem, you ask? We NEVER get to see him when Adeline is sick. He's way to busy. So, since there are over 20 doctors in this practice, we have to reach in the grab-bag and take what we can get. This didn't work so well last week. I made two, count them, two trips to Southaven. Day One, we are given an allergy medicine, which is fine and good, but does nothing for the chest congestion that's bordering on bronchitis. So, we're back on Day Two to try and get antibiotics. Different doctor this time, we do get our antibiotic, but said doctor gets (and answers) multiple text messages while in the room with us! At one point, he even says, "My friends keep texting me." Is he fifteen? I humor him with talk about cell phone carriers and he throws in a terrible joke, "So, you have Cingular and now you have Singulair (the allergy meds)!" Yes, he really thought that was funny. So, long story short, we're trying a new doctor next time.

Other than that, David and I have caught some bug (feeling sorry for us yet?) Well don't. We're incredibly lucky if this is the worst we have to deal with. On a more positive note, we're looking so forward to the holidays! CONGRATS to Uncle Justin, who finished his third semester of vet school this week! Justin, I believe this calls for some high-calorie holiday baking!

Also, shout out to Natalie & Brandon J., who will get to meet their precious new baby girl Wednesday (if not sooner)! We're praying for a safe delivery and healthy baby for you guys. Can't wait to meet her!

I have been horrible....

about posting lately! Sorry about that! It's a combination of the holidays, a sick baby, and just general busyness. I haven't even had time to take pictures lately, so here's the best I can do for now.

Let's see, what's been going on? Adeline has had the same terrible cold for OVER A MONTH now. We went the the doctor yesterday, and, surprise, surprise, she has some allergies. I just hope she outgrows them. And feels better soon.....

I have been hesitant about putting up the Christmas tree (I'm usually one of those day-after-Thanksgiving people), because I was a little afraid David and I would spent the next month and a half putting it back up everyday. But, happily, that's not the case, she's somewhat interested in it, but would rather have the African American Santa ornament my lovely husband gave me the first year we were married.

Speaking of David, he had an exciting week last week. He got to argue a zoning issue before the Mississippi Court of Appeals (in Jackson)! There was a live web broadcast, but of course with my ancient dial-up internet, I couldn't get it. I'm told, by people who watched, that he did a great job. We're so proud of him! (For Mary Carole, Laura, and Jenny, he said it was almost just like the moot court stuff we did in law school, only less formal.)

Okay, no luck with uploading the pictures, will try again later.

Nana's visit!

We are so happy Nana is feeling better! She was even feeling up to coming to see us Monday. I snapped these pictures of Adeline wearing Nana's necklace. We had to take it away because all she wanted to do was bite it (surprise, surprise).

There are also a couple of random pics I took the other day. Maybe this will give Uncle Justin his Adeline fix!
